25 January, 2023 | Feast of the Conversion of Saint Paul, Apostle

 Gospel : Mk 16: 15-18

Jesus appeared to the Eleven and said to them:

“Go into the whole world

and proclaim the Gospel to every creature.

Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved;

whoever does not believe will be condemned.

These signs will accompany those who believe:

in my name they will drive out demons,

they will speak new languages.

They will pick up serpents with their hands,

and if they drink any deadly thing, it will not harm them.

They will lay hands on the sick, and they will recover.”

Reflection:

The mandate to proclaim the Good News to the poor cannot be more fitting than on a day when the Church celebrates the Conversion of Saint Paul, the Apostle to the Gentile world. After the conversion, St Paul preached the Word in season and out , with great sense of urgency. By virtue of our Baptism, each one of us is also called by the Lord to “Go and proclaim the Good News” of the reign of God amidst us, right where we are. The question we need to ask ourselves daily is, do I bring justice, equality, peace and goodness first of all; to all whom I live with, work with or meet in the course of my day? Christian perfection is attained when we can say with St Paul, “It is no longer I who live, but  Christ who lives in me”. Gal 2: 20

Action Plan:

Reflect on the fact that the most efficacious preaching is that of the witness of life.
