Memorial of The Presentation of the Blessed Virgin Mary, 21 November, 2022
Gospel: Mt 12:46-50
While Jesus was speaking to the crowds,
his mother and his brothers appeared outside,
wishing to speak with him.
Someone told him, "Your mother and your brothers are standing outside,
asking to speak with you."
But he said in reply to the one who told him,
"Who is my mother?
Who are my brothers?"
And stretching out his hand toward his disciples, he said,
"Here are my mother and my brothers.
For whoever does the will of my heavenly Father
is my brother, and sister, and mother."
Reflection:
The feast of the Presentation of the Blessed Virgin Mary, tells us that Mary was presented to God, as was the custom. Her parents taught her the principles of Jewish living, in obedience to Yahweh. Jesus, as if in confirmation, stamps the obedience of Mary to the will of God, and invites all others to follow her example. "We celebrate that dedication of herself which Mary made to God from her very childhood under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit who filled her with grace ... " And that grace of the Holy Spirit ccame on her again during the Annuniciation, and made her the mother of Jesus Christ, whom he upholds and recalls in this passage.
Activity:
Say Three Hail Mary(s) meaningfully.
